Chief Data Officers Enter the C-Suite; Machine Learning Goes Mainstream

Survey highlights:
1. Chief Data Officers Enter the C-Suite. Survey revealed that 18% have defined an entirely new executive role for data science, and 26% indicated that they have created dedicated data science departments within their business units.
2. No PhD Required. Machine Learning becomes more mainstream and many organizations with Big Data initiatives are under resourced due to the lack of available data scientists. Results showed more than 60% had zero to medium knowledge of advanced analytics. This is driving the need for out-of-the-box solutions that can deliver production grade analytics without the need for in-house software development.
3. Advanced Analytics is Everywhere. The majority of the survey pool answered that Marketing has the most to gain from Advanced Analytics/Machine Learning projects. Even though Marketing (54%) stood out, it was clear that ALL areas of the organization could benefit from Machine Learning. Operations (49%), Sales (39%), IT (44%), and Finance (25%) responded favorably to the immediate value and future impact of Machine Learning to their business needs.
