February 2013 Updates to the "Wanted by the CBSA" List

ID: 234652

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/28/13 -- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced the 38th and 39th arrests of persons on the "Wanted by the CBSA" , and the addition of five new profiles.

The Toronto Immigration Task Force (ITF), a joint forces operation comprising law enforcement personnel from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the CBSA, who work together to apprehend high-risk migrant fugitives, made two arrests of persons on the list.

In the evening of February 20, ITF officers arrested Robert Akwasi Boakye in Vaughan, Ontario. Boakye is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality, for having been convicted of extortion. He has also been convicted of uttering threats, possession of counterfeit mark, obstructing a peace officer and fraud over $5,000.

Two days later, on February 22, ITF officers arrested Hong Guang Xue in Guelph, Ontario, following an investigation dating to October 2011. Xue is inadmissible to Canada. He has allegedly committed an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute a Canadian offence.

To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 39 individuals in Canada, of which 26 have been removed. In addition, six individuals were located abroad. The five new profiles announced today are featured on the CBSA Web site, alongside existing cases. Older cases remain online, in the archive section of the Web site.

The "Wanted by the CBSA" program has proven to be a useful tool in assisting the CBSA in locating individuals who are wanted for removal. Members of the public are encouraged to frequently visit the "Wanted by the CBSA" site for updates on new cases, apprehensions and removals.

If you have information about suspicious cross-border activity or immigration-related offences, please contact the CBSA by calling the Border Watch Toll-free Line at 1-888-502-9060. Members of the public are reminded that they should not take action to apprehend the individuals listed on the Web site.
