Snowstorm blankets Sunshine Village
-An additional 10 - 15 cm forecasted over the next few days provides a solid start to March-
(firmenpresse) - BANFF, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/01/13 -- Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort can expect to see up to 15 cm (6 in) of powder fall on the resort over the next couple of days, providing a solid entry to the month of March.
The new snow system is attributed to the Pineapple Express converging on the Rocky Mountains and dropping its precipitation on the resort.
"Sunshine received incredible early season snowfalls which laid the foundation for an exceptional start to the year," begins Dave Riley, Chief Operating Officer, Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. "Today's snowstorm will enable us to continue providing guests with world class conditions and soft powder turns as we enter our spring ski season."
Sunshine Village's current snow pack has settled to 160 cm (63 in), providing an impressive start to the approaching spring ski season, and today's forecasted snow will result in over 600 cm (236 in) of the white stuff falling on the resort to date.
The resort is famous for its legendary all-natural champagne powder and its unique snow farming technique, which uses 35 km of snow fencing to capture the snow on the resort's three big mountains.
