Petrel(TM) plug-in software will also be launched in the Fall
Zurich, Switzerland, July 7, 2010. Spectraseis, the leading provider of low
frequency geophysical solutions to the oil and gas industry, today announced the
launch of RioGrande, as well as its plans this Fall for the release of an LF
Seismic plug-in for Schlumberger's Petrel software.
The announcements reflect Spectraseis' commitment to achieving full integration
of LF seismic survey results with conventional G&G data, by providing industry
geoscientists with workflow solutions and extensions to industry-standard
workstation applications.
RioGrande is an advanced data management and visualization solution for LF
seismic that will support Spectraseis' customers in their integration and
interpretation of LF survey results. RioGrande is now available to all operators
conducting LF seismic surveys with Spectraseis.
RioGrande provides LF survey users with an integrated toolset that simplifies
the management and analysis of LF seismic data. It also includes a variety of
data-specific viewers, including a 3D Map viewer, a Measurement Time Line
viewer, an Image viewer, a Raw Data Trace viewer and a Synchrogram viewer.
Using RioGrande, exploration and exploitation teams can seamlessly browse,
search and view all their LF Seismic acquisition and processing data -
everything from survey points through to quality assessments and spectrograms -
for each recorded measurement. The integration of external information, such as
facility locations and earthquake events, provides the operator with a rich data
set for interpretation. For example, an interpreter can efficiently locate LF
seismic anomalies within the data set then go back to the base data to verify
and understand the origin of the feature. Interpreters can also quantify how
changes to the processing parameters alter the final result.
In the fall of 2010, Spectraseis plans to release the first version of an LF
Seismic plug-in for Schlumberger's Petrel software. The plug-in will allow
Petrel users to integrate LF seismic survey data, analysis and results with
conventional E&P data types, such as 2D/3D seismic, well logs and reservoir
models, all within the Petrel framework for interpretation. A user will be able
to compute and visualize LF attributes, create velocity models for Spectraseis'
Time Reverse Imaging (TRI), and then view and interpret TRI results in the
context of their other geological and geophysical information.
RioGrande is being made available to all operators conducting LF seismic surveys
with Spectraseis and will be installed at ten customer sites in the coming
months. In future it may be available as a standalone product.

Further Information on RioGrande
A flexible and modular design
RioGrande comes in a modular design with a variety of data plug-ins, making it
simple for the operator to add new processing and visualization modules to
accommodate new data types and workflows. In the future, operators will also be
able to write their own proprietary plug-ins, taking advantage of RioGrande's
powerful data selection and data management tools, while at the same time
offering the flexibility of designing a customized workflow.
All of the application plug-ins within RioGrande are fully interactive. Stations
or measurements that a user selects or highlights in one applet are also be
highlighted or selected in the related applets for easy identification.
Measurements selected by the user can easily be passed to a visualization applet
for a more detailed look at the data.
Processes multiple data types
Acquisition and processing data that can be accessed through RioGrande includes
all survey point locations and acquisition instrument settings; satellite
imagery of the survey area; survey location photographs; earthquake locations,
magnitudes and wave travel times available for the duration of the survey;
measurement start and stop times and durations; data analysts' quality
assessments; spectrograms for each recorded measurement and average spectrums
for selected measurements and time windows; and Spectral Distribution of
Amplitudes (SDA plots) for the measurements and time windows a user selects.
Contains six data-specific viewers
RioGrande contains data specific viewers which make it easy for a user to
browse, select and visualize the many data types that are available within the
system. Each viewer has a number of features for filtering and modifying the way
the data is displayed. These include:
* 3D map viewer which includes satellite imagery available from NASA's World
Wind server. The viewer has full zoom, pan and tilt capabilities and the
ability to display maps in UTM or Geographic projections with both
latitude/longitude and x/y locations displayed in the status bar. Locations
with specific noise sources or other areas of relevance can be documented
and KML import and export features are available to facilitate exchanging
data with other map-based applications.
* Measurement time line viewer, a chronological display of all measurements
recorded in the survey. The viewer can group and sort measurements by
station id or by sensor device and comes with data tools for selecting
single measurements, multiple measurements within a user defined time range,
or all synchronous measurements. The Viewer also has integrated earthquake
annotations displayed along the same timeline as the measurement history.
* Image viewer with thumbnail previews for all imagery associated with the
currently selected measurement or station, and a full size photo viewer with
image zoom and rotate controls.
* Raw data trace viewer which provides a synchronous display of multiple
time-series measurements (amplitude domain) and displays scale adjustments
to control the trace and sample display density. Trace sorting can be
carried out by station identifier or by geographic orientation (north to
south or east to west) and there are multiple trace normalization modes.
* Synchrogram viewer, which provides a synchronous display of multiple
spectrograms. Integrated earthquake annotations can be displayed along the
same timeline as the spectrograms for the easy location of seismic events.
Other options include the ability to save synchrogram images as standard
format image files, display spectrogram times in the local time zone, and
the ability to sort by station, sensor and geographic orientation. A user
can generate statistical analysis charts to analyze average spectrums or the
spectral distribution of amplitudes for each spectrogram; and a noise
tagging feature allows the user to highlight, annotate and save events or
regions of interest for one or more spectrograms.
* And finally, a General Information Viewer which stores all relevant station
location details, measurement logs (start time, end time, duration,
available components) and local environmental conditions (temperature, soil
type, etc.) among other meta-information.
