RiverStone Cup XII Competition Pays Off Big for the NH Food Bank
Tons & Tons of Tuna to Benefit the NH Food Bank
(firmenpresse) - MANCHESTER, NH -- (Marketwire) -- 03/06/13 -- Once again, the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester was the scene of the Battle for RiverStone Cup, the twelfth annual charity event featuring a hockey game between UNH and other regional college teams for bragging rights during the coming year. More than 6,500 enthusiastic, and definitely biased, fans were treated to a spirited game between UNH and Merrimack College, ending with a 6-2 UNH victory.
Beyond the RiverStone Cup pageantry and growing tradition, however, lies another story of competitive rewards earned through good corporate stewardship and community support by primary sponsor, RiverStone Resources LLC, of Manchester. Each year, in the few weeks leading up to the RiverStone Cup game, two teams of RiverStone employees compete to see which can raise the largest amount of money to be donated to a pre-selected, deserving local charity. All contributions are voluntary out-of-pocket donations from individual employees incentivized by RiverStone's generous 3 to 1 matching gift program.
The results of this unique corporate effort have been spectacular! Over the last four years alone, donations totaling almost $140,000 have gone exclusively to the NH Food Bank for their critical work in combatting hunger throughout the state. This year's donation was a whopping $78,252!
Following this year's game, Nick Bentley, RiverStone Resources LLC Chairman, CEO, and President, presented a check in this amount to the NH Food Bank, saying, "RiverStone is genuinely pleased and proud to make this donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank. There is only one food bank in the state, and their hard work in collecting and distributing nourishing food along with related educational programs is essential to the health and welfare of our neighbors in need." Accepting the check was Mel Gosselin, Executive Director of the Food Bank, who said, "We are deeply indebted and grateful to RiverStone Resources' management and employees who made possible this amazingly generous gift. Their support is immensely important in our fight to eliminate food insecurity in New Hampshire."

The NH Food Bank is a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities. In 2012, the NH Food Bank distributed nearly 8.5 million pounds of donated surplus food to more than 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers and senior citizen homes.
