Trade Your Car Keys for Green Pints This St. Patrick's Day

(firmenpresse) - OAKVILLE, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/14/13 -- MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking St. Patrick's Day revellers to rely on responsible planning and not the fabled "luck of the Irish" to get home safely this weekend.
"The green beer will be flowing as Canadians celebrate all things Irish this St. Patrick's Day. But everyone has a responsibility to make sure they and others get home from the parties safely," said MADD Canada National President Denise Dubyk. "If you're going to be drinking, take a cab or bus or arrange a designated driver. Make sure you have a sober ride home."
Impaired driving continues to be a deadly problem on Canadian roads, in spite of laws, police efforts and awareness initiatives. Every day, on average, 4 people are killed and 174 are injured in impairment-related crashes.
This St. Patrick's Day, MADD Canada and Allstate Canada are urging Canadians:
"Don't count on luck to protect you from the deadly consequences that can come with driving while you're impaired," said Allstate Insurance Company of Canada President and Chief Executive Officer John O'Donnell. "Taking a few minutes beforehand to plan a safe trip home from St. Patrick's Day celebrations, can prevent a lifetime of heartache for you and those around you."
