RATIONAL AG: New records
- 11 percent sales growth, 20 percent growth in earnings
- Dividend of 5.70 euros
- Best Innovator 2012/2013
Landsberg, March 20, 2013 RATIONAL successfully continued its global
growth in fiscal year 2012. Sales rose by 11 percent from 391.7 million
euros to 435.0 million euros. All regions around the globe contributed to
this rise in sales, with the overseas markets of the Americas (+27 percent)
and Asia (+26 percent) exhibiting the most dynamic development. In Germany,
the world's highest-volume individual market, the business set a new sales
record, with over 7,000 units sold. 'One major reason for the very positive
business trend overall is that our new product lines - the
SelfCookingCenter(R) whitefficiency(R), the CombiMaster(R) Plus and the
VarioCooking Center MULTIFICIENCY(R) - have established themselves as the
new performance standard for professional kitchens', explains
RATIONAL CEO Dr. Günter Blaschke.
20 percent growth in earnings, 28 percent EBIT margin
Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) climbed 20 percent from 102.2
million euros to 122.7 million euros. The EBIT margin rose to 28 percent
(2011: 26 percent). Earnings after tax rose by 18 percent from 78.7 million
euros to 93.3 million euros compared to the previous year. This equates to
a profit per share of 8.20 euros (2011: 6.93 euros).
Dividend of 5.70 euros proposed
In order for shareholders to share in the company's success once more as
appropriate, the Supervisory Board and Executive Board have decided to
propose to the General Meeting of Shareholders on May 8, 2013 to distribute
a dividend from 5.70 per share (2011: 5.50 euros).
Best Innovator 2012/2013
The RATIONAL innovation process was adjudged by a distinguished jury of
experts, comprising representatives from business consultants A.T. Kearney,
the Fraunhofer Institute and WirtschaftsWoche magazine, to be the overall
winner of the 'Best Innovator 2012/2013' competition. The main criteria
assessed looked at how deeply the culture of innovation was entrenched in
the corporate organisation, the innovation strategy, the sustainability of
innovation management and the resultant success in terms of innovation.
This award places RATIONAL among the ranks of successful global enterprises
such as Henkel, Volkswagen and BMW, all winners of this accolade in past
years.

acknowledged and singled out as 'Best Practice' by a jury of such
distinguished experts. It also spurs us on to continue to offer our global
customers maximum benefit going forward. In doing so, we will at the same
time succeed in continuously expanding our technological edge and our world
market leadership year on year', says Dr. Blaschke.
Growth expected to continue
Despite existing uncertainties and risks, economic experts expect to see
continued solid growth in the global economy for the years ahead. 'Against
this backdrop, and also in view of the very positive acceptance of our
products and the large untapped global market potential, we believe we can
continue our successful growth policy for sales and earnings in 2013', Dr.
Blaschke is optimistic.
