Media Advisory: CUPE demands a real public infrastructure program in the federal budget

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/20/13 -- The Canadian Union of Public Employees is calling for a major public infrastructure program to create jobs and strengthen public services in Canada, in the 2013 federal budget.

CUPE National President, Paul Moist, CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer, Charles Fleury, and the union's economist, Toby Sanger, will be available Thursday to comment on the budget.

For CUPE, the federal government must significantly increase infrastructure funding for the long term. Municipalities need financing without being forced to engage in public private partnerships and privatization of public services. Canadian communities' infrastructure deficit is currently $ 125 billion.
