ITERA International Group of Companies Congratulates Katusha Leader on UCI Win
Joaquim Rodriguez Won a Trophy From the Union of Cycling International -- Prompting a Response From ITERA International Group of Companies
(firmenpresse) - MOSCOW -- (Marketwire) -- 03/25/13 -- has long played a key role in the continued development of Russia's federal cycling program, and the company has taken a keen interest in the Katusha Team, in particular -- so it comes as no great surprise that, on the heels of a significant Katusha victory, ITERA has come out with public words of affirmation and congratulations. On March 18, the Katusha Team leader, Joaquim Rodriguez, was recognized as the overall Individual Ranking Winner of the 2012 Union of Cycling International WorldTour. The UCI's prestigious Crystal Trophy was presented to Rodriguez by the union's President, Pat McQuaid -- prompting a public comment from ITERA International Group of Companies.
As the leader of the sole Russian team in the 2012 World Tour, Rodriguez achieved his individual classification victory back in September, upon winning the significant Giro di Lombardia race. The trophy was to be presented during the official presentation of Team Katusha in December 2012, but the ceremony was abruptly cancelled when Katusha's World Tour license was revoked.
This decision was appealed, and, in February, the Court of Arbitration for Sport renewed Katusha's license for the 2013 World Tour -- and paved the way for Rodriguez to finally receive his trophy. Katusha Team has hardly been idle since receiving its license and this prestigious honor, however; in the last month, the team has competed in multiple WorldTour races, currently holding a WorldTour ranking of fourth place.
