earnings
(Grambach, 28.03.2013) BDI - BioEnergy International AG, the leading
technology supplier and specialised plant manufacturer in the waste to
value field, reports a 14% decrease in sales to EUR 29.8 million and EBIT
before extraordinary items of -EUR 0.9 million for the 2012 fiscal year
(previous year: EUR 4.6 million). The largely non-cash special items total
EUR 5.8 million. Strategic adaptation of the company's focus and a
cost-cutting programme that has already been implemented are to lead to a
turnaround in 2013. The total orders on hand of EUR 24.1 million on
31.12.2012 (an increase of 60% over the previous year) form a sound basis
for this.
BDI made extraordinary, non-cash goodwill depreciation charges totalling
EUR 3.0 million due to the difficult market situation and the slower than
planned development of sales and earnings in the BioGas segment.
Capitalised development costs of EUR 2.1 million were also depreciated. The
strategic and organisational changes initiated in 2012 led to restructuring
costs of EUR 0.8 million. In spite of the positive financial result and
income from equity interests, this led to period earnings (after
non-controlling interest) of -EUR 4.4 million in the 2012 fiscal year
(previous year: EUR 4.2 million).
The increase in total orders on hand, the successfully implemented
cost-cutting programme and the strategic optimisation of future operations
form the basis for returning to past success following the transition year
in 2012. BDI's portfolio is to be expanded, with the aim of transforming
the company from being a specialised plant manufacturer for the BioDiesel
and BioGas industry to being a comprehensive supplier of innovative
industrial green tech solutions.
