Workplace visualisation provides quieter, fast alarm centre for police, fire
brigade and ambulance

Veiligheidsregio (security region) Haaglanden has taken into operation the new
joint alarm centre in Ypenburg, The Hague, for police, fire brigade and
ambulance services. Ordina was responsible for the construction of the IT
infrastructure of the joint alarm centre and will be responsible for the entire
management of the IT infrastructure for a period of three years from delivery.
Veiligheidsregio Haaglanden opted for a new, joint alarm centre for police, fire
brigade and ambulance services, to optimise its services at lower costs. Ordina
introduced full workplace visualisation to reduce not only energy costs, but
also the dust and noise on the work floor. And the centre now operates at lower
costs and with extremely high levels of reliability. Ordina has built all the
systems in the IT infrastructure on the basis of double modular redundancy to
guarantee the availability of the IT systems.
"The integration of the various alarm centres used by the police, fire brigade
and ambulance services requires an innovative approach," says Barend de Zoete,

to be effectively connected to each other, but the people on the shop floor also
need rapid insight into all the necessary information. People who work at alarm
centres work under immense pressure and every second counts. IT systems have to
provide optimal support for that process. By implementing workplace
visualisation, for instance, we not only offer the staff a quick and efficient
IT environment, we also reduce the noise of PCs on the shop floor. A perfect
