Greenvironment signs cooperation agreement with Finnish defence group Patria
(firmenpresse) - - Long-term partnership with financially strong partner
- Target: 20 MW installed, decentralized capacity until 2015
- First major order in Poland expected by September 2010
Berlin, 17th August 2010 – Greenvironment plc and Patria Oyj have signed a long-term cooperation agreement for the installation as well as for the operation of environmentally friendly combined heat and electric power plants in Poland, based on microturbine technology. This enables the efficient production of heat and power from industrial, agricultural or communal waste materials and natural gas by small scale plants from various geographically distributed locations. It is the goal of the parties to install 20 MW decentralized capacity until 2015.
Greenvironment will provide technology, know how and proven experiences regarding the operation of distributed power generation with microturbine power plants. Patria joins in as investor, assisting with a technology transfer program and supports Greenvironment on governmental level contacts. Hence Patria can fulfil its offset obligations in connection with an armoured vehicle sale to Poland. Offsets are compensatory arrangements related to public procurements in the defence and aerospace sector. The main objective of offset arrangements is to provide benefits for the economy of the buying country.
Mr Seppo Marin, Vice President Industrial Cooperation of Patria Oyj, states: "For Patria this partnership is a logical part of the industrial cooperation we do in countries of our operations. We’re proud being able to assist the enhancement of the power generation in Poland through this cooperation with Greenvironment. The targets to develop environmentally friendly power generation established by the Polish government are ambitious yet reachable and so are also ours through this cooperation. Patria has seen and evaluated Greenvironment’s power plants and operations in Germany. Based on these experiences, Patria is confident that it has chosen the best possible cooperation partner in Poland."
Mr Matti Malkamäki, CEO of Greenvironment plc, adds: "The industrial cooperation with Patria has high value for the expansion of Greenvironment towards Poland and exactly fits into our strategy to expand into Eastern Europe. Greenvironment enters the Polish market with a strong partner that has been able to establish outstanding performance on providing it’s technology to Polish markets and similarly enhancing the Polish economy through its industrial cooperation program. We estimate first results of this cooperation to be reached soon."
