Anapol Schwartz Reports Mirena Multidistrict Litigation Consolidation in New York
(firmenpresse) - PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/16/13 -- The United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) has ordered all federal Mirena IUD lawsuits to be centralized as a multidistrict litigation (MDL) in the Southern District of New York before The Honorable Cathy Seibel. More than 1,500 women have contacted the Anapol Schwartz law firm with injuries associated with Mirena.
The JPML decided to centralize the to promote just and efficient conduct of the lawsuits as they share common factual allegations of inadequate warnings related to the risk of uterine perforation and migration. In addition to convenience of the parties and witnesses, the JPML found that centralization "... will eliminate duplicative discovery; prevent inconsistent rulings on pretrial matters; and conserve the resources of the parties, their counsel and the judiciary."*
