NetConnect Germany adjusts control energy levy

NetConnect Germany adjusts control energy levy

ID: 24973

(PresseBox) - NetConnect Germany (NCG) is adjusting the control energy levy by 0.02 ct/kWh with effect from 1 October 2010. This means that the control energy levy for the NCG Hgas market area will be 0.1 ct/kWh from that date. A similar adjustment will be made for the EGT Lgas market area.
During the past few months there continued to be high control energy sales. However, as the account used for commercial balancing of the control energy market is still clearly in the red, NCG considers the increased control energy levy to be absolutely necessary in order to eliminate this negative balance as quickly as possible for the benefit of all customers. Another reason for doing so is that, in the light of last year's experience, there are again likely to be considerable control energy purchases in the coming winter season.
Under the existing regulatory regime, NCG is responsible as balancing group network operator for the procurement of control energy. As part of this function it reviews the amount of the levy every six months and adjusts it if necessary. The next review will take place in the spring of 2011.

NetConnect Germany offers a range of products and customerfriendly services for network operators and shippers across different market areas throughout Germany and handles the operational management of the market area cooperation between various partners. More than half of Hgas moved across Germany is shipped through the 14,800 km pipeline system in NCG's market area, which stretches from the North Sea coast down to the Alps. NCG also provides services for the Lgas market area of E.ON Gastransport GmbH.
