Beaty, of 1550 - 625 Howe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6C 2T6, today announced pursuant to National Instrument 62-103 The Early Warning System and Related Take-Over Bid and Insider Reporting Issues that on April 17, 2013 he acquired ownership of 14,930,000 common shares of Alterra Power Corp. ("Alterra") by way of a private purchase, made in reliance on the private agreement exemption set out in section 4.2 of Multilateral Instrument 62-104 Take-Over Bids and Issuer Bids ("MI62-104") for a purchase price of CDN$0.32 per share for an aggregate purchase price of CDN$4,777,600, and an additional 103,500 common shares of Alterra though the facilities of the Toronto Stock Exchange in reliance on the normal course purchase exemption set out in section 4.1 of MI62-104 for purchase prices ranging between CDN$0.30 and CDN$0.32 for an aggregate purchase price of CDN$32,368.32, for a total acquisition of 15,033,500 common shares of Alterra. The common shares purchased represent approximately 3.22% of the total number of issued and outstanding common shares of Alterra. As a result of these transactions, Mr. Beaty now owns, directly or indirectly, or exercises control or direction, over 136,665,504 common shares of Alterra, representing approximately 29.3% of the total number of issued and outstanding common shares of Alterra. In addition, Mr. Beaty holds, directly and indirectly, options to acquire an additional 831,734 common shares of Alterra. If all such options were exercised, Mr. Beaty would exercise ownership and control, directly or indirectly, over a total of 137,497,238 common shares of Alterra, which would represent approximately 29.5% of the then issued and outstanding common shares of Alterra. Mr. Beaty's acquisition was made for investment purposes. Mr. Beaty may, in the future, acquire ownership and control over additional securities of Alterra for investment purposes.
