V850E2M/MN4 32-bit dual-core All Flash(TM) MCUs set world record with 1024 DMIPS at a clock speed of 200 MHz
Extremely powerful and low power consumption
(PresseBox) - MSC presents the world's fastest 32bit dualcore microcontrollers with embedded flash memory. The µPD70F3514 and µPD70F3515 All Flash(TM) MCUs from Renesas Electronics incorporate two V850E2M cores with extended floating point unit (FPU) and 64 KB of RAM for each core, 1 MB (µPD70F3514) respectively 2 MB (µPD70F3515) flash memory and an additional 64 KB system RAM in a 304pin fine pitch ball grid array (FBGA) package. The flash cache memories of each core allow singlecycle access at 200 MHz clock frequency. As a result, a system processing performance of up to 1024 Dhrystone MIPS can be achieved while maintaining power consumption of just 0.88 mW/DMIPS.
Two external bus interfaces offer the possibility to connect and operate synchronously external components such as RAMs, FPGAs or ASICs. In addition, the 16bit DMA channels provide high data throughput. Integrated motor control timers and two encoders make the devices ideal for use in motion control applications, servo drives and inverters. By means of additional CAN, USB Host, USB Function and Ethernet interface as well as highly performant UARTs, SPIs and I2Cs, simple connection to the external world is possible.
Renesas Electronics provides extensive software development environments, which are also suitable for asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP), for the V850E2M/MN4 dualcore MCUs. This offering is rounded off with the Prism solution from CriticalBlue. With this multicore software development, simulation and analysis tool, software engineers can easily explore the full potential of the V850E2M/MN4 MCUs.
In addition to the µPD70F3514 and µPD70F3515 dualcore versions, Renesas Electronics has announced two V850E2M/MN4 singlecore versions, the uPD70F3510 and uPD70F3512, each with 1 MB flash memory. These V850E2M singlecore devices consume 60 percent less power compared with the dualcore MCUs.
