Copeinca: PERU AUTHORIZES STARTING OF FIRST FISHING SEASON 2013

On 24 April, PRODUCE, the Peruvian Ministry of Production's Fishing Vice
Ministry, the entity that executes and directs the sector's policies to
guarantee the rational management of fishing resources and preservation of the
environment, issued resolution 148-2013 authorizing the start of the first
fishing season on 17 May at 00:00 hours only in the area between the parallels
08° 30' and 16° 00' South Latitude.
The maximum allowable catch limit of anchovy for indirect human consumption for
the first fishing season is 2,050,000 MT.
The first fishing season will end once the maximum allowable catch limit is
reached, otherwise on 31 July 2013. This date may be extended according to the
biological environment, prior report from the Instituto del Mar Peruano, IMARPE.
