The last winter - Ski-racer Christian Flühr face to his last season
Since more than a decade Christian Flühr (37) is known as the most popular endurance skier. Growing up at the coal piles in the middle of Germany instead of living in the Alps he is the holder of 13 extreme world records in skiing. Repeatedly the German skier already announced the career end. The end will definitely be after this winter. But before putting the skis symbolically into the corner, Flühr wants to take a last chance to reach his limits. Unfortunately, Flühr are bothering completely different worries at the moment. As he is injured he is not able to exercise at all.
Christian's last winter(firmenpresse) - About 3 weeks ago a mishap happened to the world record holder at his parents’ home in the Ruhrgebiet. Not in the sports training but at a couple of steps in the garden he hurt himself at the outer strip at the left foot. "This was the crowning touch of the poor summer. I have struggled with myself and meditated for a long time what I shall make further. Once I heard a song of ABBA in the radio “OUR LAST SUMMER” and it was clear to me: once again – then end", he explains. Although the world record holder assumes that he will need 2-3 weeks till the foot is completely painless again but the aim remains at the latest being able to ski in Sölden again at the World Cup Start.
What is the plan for the coming winter of the man holding 13 world records which absolutely unbelievable and hardly conceivable. The German extreme ski ace says to it: "After I have come to the decision quite alone for myself to tackle an eleventh winter, I have put myself together with my organization boss and fixed my own wishful thinking for the last winter. She is now beginning to make cooperation with potential skiing areas concerning my ideas." Christian Flühr seems rather sure that everything will come just like he plans it: "Yes, if I were not convinced reaching my aims I could have stopped also before the winter. Still, I would really like to let become true the 299+X hours, the 90 skiing lifts at one day and another indoor world record at the end."
Everybody experiencing Flühr within the last yeas knows that the ski racer has let all announcements follow deeds till now. Christian smiles and comes to the conclusion: "Yes, now the first step has to be done and then we manage the rest.”
