(firmenpresse) - CUPERTINO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/01/13 -- Jerome (Jerry) Rhodes of Chadds Ford, Pa., Chief Operating Officer for , the nation's largest provider of addiction treatment and related behavioral health services, will receive the prestigious Nyswander-Dole Award for his outstanding contributions to the opioid treatment field. The presentation of awards is set for November 12, 2013 at the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) Conference in Philadelphia.

"We congratulate Jerry on this fantastic and well-deserved achievement that validates a career-long dedication to the treatment field," said CEO R. Andrew Eckert. "His championing of medication-assisted treatment as one of the most effective means for overcoming opiate addiction has saved thousands of lives. He is a true leader in the field and a treasured member of the CRC Health team."

Also known as the "Marie Award" after Dr. Marie Nyswander, the Nyswander-Dole Award was first presented in 1983 to recognize extraordinary work and service in the opioid treatment field. While many medical advances have been made in the field over the past 30 years, today over 7 million Americans are addicted or physically dependent to some form of opiate or prescription painkiller.

Nomination for the award is recognized to be an affirmation of one's contributions to methadone treatment, as well as to the high standards established by the Conference Awards Committee for the selection of awardees.

Nyswander-Dole Award recipients are selected by their peers from each region in the United States and at least one international region. Rhodes was selected by his peers within the Pennsylvania Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (PATOD).

Also among those recommending Rhodes for the award was Four-Star General Barry McCaffrey (Ret), the nation's former National Drug Policy Director and senior advisor to CRC Health Group, who wrote, "Jerry's national expertise and understanding that effective addiction treatment should be science based is an enormous asset to the field. He knows the national statistics as well as state statistics concerning the treatment gap of the people we all want to help. He has encouraged and invested in cutting edge strategies of medication assisted treatments as part of a tool box that could provide major breakthroughs."

Rhodes joined in 2003 and has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining CRC, he was the Chief Executive Officer for Comprehensive Addictions Programs Inc. (CAPs), a national, full-service addiction treatment provider of both residential and opiate treatment.

In receiving the award, Rhodes stated, "I am surprised and humbled by this award. Twenty-three million people need but do not receive substance abuse treatment, and I am proud that CRC is leading the effort to help them. The treatment field has made great strides, but we have a lot more work to do."

The Nyswander-Dole Awards will be presented by A. Thomas McLellan, Ph.D., CEO and co-founder of the Treatment Research Institute (TRI), and current Clinical Advisory Board member for CRC.
