2010International Suppliers Fair (IZB): TPO-based DecoJect(TM) foil paves the way to new design possibilities for automotive interiors

(PresseBox) - The DecoJect(TM) thin foil recently developed by Benecke-Kaliko for doors, consoles and other components (on view at booth 302 in hall 6) is an economical alternative to painted injection molded parts of the kind often used in compact and high-volume vehicles.
DecoJect(TM) upgrades unpainted injection molded parts. The 0.2- to 0.5-mm-thick TPO based foil for the injection molding of foil backing has no grain of its own. The grain is added to the component when the foil backing is injection molded. DecoJect(TM) paves the way to new design possibilities in automotive interiors with an expanded range of colors, patterns and effect paints. The foil makes it possible to match the color and shine of the injected molded parts to other components.
It is also especially scratch- and wear-proof and is pleasant to the touch. In addition, the new process makes it possible to change the interior decor without lengthy setup times; it reduces the cost of changing colors and is thus an economical alternative to painted injection molding parts. The foil can also be used to mask molding errors such as seams on support components, thereby helping to achieve a uniform surface quality.
