Soventix to construct one of the largest roof-mounted PV plants in South Africa

ID: 256453

(PresseBox) - Soventix South Africa, a provider of PV project development and construction has been awarded the contract for one of the largest roof-mounted PV plants in South Africa. As a pilot project, the first EPC contract was signed for a system size of 304 kWp which can be extended to up to 560 kWp in a second construction phase.
The planning contains over 1,200 High Voltage photovoltaic Jinko Solar modules and 19 powerful SMA inverters. Each module providing 250W, the solar power plant will produce approximately 505 MWh of electricity per year. In addition, the system will avoid the emission of nearly 500 tons of CO2 annually which would be emitted if the energy were to be produced by Eskom's coal power plants instead. Not only does the client benefit from a reduced electricity bill, but they will also profit in the reduction of carbon tax, which is to be introduced in South Africa.
The customer, Bosco, an industrial manufacturer of electronic circuit boards in Johannesburg, was especially satisfied by the full service package Soventix offers. Along with the detailed planning and construction, Soventix provides a high quality consultative service, offering support for the qualification for the Eskom rebate along with a range of other consulting services.
The actual construction phase is due to commence in July (or as soon as approval has been met with Eskom) and will take between 2 and 4 months to implement and commission.
Rowan Jacklin, General Manager of Soventix and responsible for activities in Sub-Saharan Africa, is especially proud of the good relationship with Bosco: "I feel that Soventix secured this contract due to the fact that we are an international solar developer with vast experience. That coupled with the healthy return we could fix with Eskom, and the support we offer our customers certainly gave us the advantage. Besides the planning, construction and organizational work, Soventix offers system operation, monitoring of the returns and maintenance of all components."

Soventix will be exhibiting and presenting at Clean Power Africa at the CTICC in Cape Town from 14-15 May 2013.
