ContiTech Fluid Mexicana triples production area / New orders from VW / Workforce at ContiTech Fluid Mexicana increased by 100 since beginning of the year

(PresseBox) - ContiTech Fluid Mexicana S.A. de C.V. continues to grow: The company, which belongs to the German corporation Continental and produces hose line systems for the automotive industry, officially put into operation a new 11,000 m2 plant in Tlalnepantla, north of Mexico City, today. The production site has some 7,000 m2 - more than three times as much as at the previous location. "The reasons for the relocation were the strong order situation and good future prospects," said Günter Frölich, head of the ContiTech Fluid Technology business unit, at the opening ceremony with customers and employees in the plant. "We were awarded contracts for two major projects for VW de México and VW of America, and we also see increasing demand for our hose line systems. As a member of NAFTA, Mexico presents us with substantial advantages, particularly when it comes to our deliveries to the US automotive industry."
Supplier for air conditioning lines in the New Jetta and the New Beetle
The ContiTech plant near Mexico City, which produces some 2.5 million lines each year, will in the future supply air conditioning lines for the New Jetta and the New Beetle from VW de México. ContiTech supplies three fourths of the air conditioning lines for VW of America's new mid-range saloon, which is based on the Golf and will be coming off the line in the new VW plant in Chattanooga starting in 2011. Moreover, the company has been nominated for the supply of high-pressure power steering lines for these automobiles. The air conditioning and power steering lines for the X5 and the X6 from BMW in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA, are also supplied by ContiTech, as are the power steering lines for the Mercedes M and R Class
(ZF/MBUSI, USA) and the latest models Jetta, Bora and New Beetle von VW de México. "We have a new generous amount of storage space which allows us to greatly optimize our materials flow processes," explains managing director Bertrand Bogaert. "Our customers stand to profit from this, and at the same time, we have improved working conditions for our employees."

ContiTech - an employer with prospects for the future
Since the beginning of the year, the workforce at ContiTech Fluid Mexicana has grown by 100. At the new plant, 500 employees now make air conditioning lines, power steering lines and transmission oil cooler lines. Prospects are good in the long term as well: "Our products are becoming ever more sophisticated and demand is on the rise, so we are in need of qualified staff," says Bogaert. "In view of its global presence, ContiTech Fluid Technology is also an interesting employer for highly qualified students in Mexico. At its three locations in Mexico and the US, ContiTech Fluid Technology currently has about 700 employees.
