As mentioned in the press release on February 20, 2013, DATA MODUL's first
quarter of 2013 was characterized by delays in customer call orders as a
result of the uncertain economic environment. Accordingly, revenues
declined 6.7 % to 33.4 million euros. The lack of contribution margin from
the delayed call orders and the slight decline in margins due to increased
competitive pressure resulted in a reduction in EBIT to 0.4 million euros
(previous year: 2.1 million euros). The Systems business was particularly
impacted by the delay in call orders. In recent years, the Systems business
has experienced especially strong growth in the course of DATA MODUL's
transition in the business model to a higher portion of value added through
customer-specific solutions and proprietary products. In the first quarter
of 2013, net income for the period amounted to 0.0 million euros (previous
year: 1.5 million euros).
On the positive side, order intake exceeded the very strong level of the
previous year by 1.7 % and amounted to 46.6 million euros despite the
difficult economic environment. This confirms DATA MODUL's successful
business model. Consequently, the order backlog increased 20.7 % to 94.6
million euros.This marked a new record in the Company's history.

year however the precise timing of this is difficult to foresee. On the
cost side, higher upfront investments are expected in the course of the
year for the relocation of production, the warehouse, and logistics from
Munich to Weikersheim, and the transformation of the business model. In
addition, we will forge ahead with our internationalization. This may lead
to a decline in profits in 2013 in comparison to the previous year.
Therefore, fiscal year 2013 - as already stated on several other occasions
- is a year of transition. Through these upfront investments, DATA MODUL is
paving the way for a very successful future.
