SGS Seminar on Advanced Ultrasonic Testing in Kazakhstan
On November 30, 2010, SGS offers a one-day seminar on advanced Ultrasonic Testing (UT) in Kazakhstan. The SGS seminar will focus on two Non-Destructive Testing methods: Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction.

(firmenpresse) - The ability to accurately size and monitor defects and discontinuities in a material or structure is becoming more and more important in industrial plants. With the industry’s growing need for the application of more reliable, simpler, safer, accurate and cost effective techniques, Phased Array (PA) and Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) are widely recognized as the most effective testing methods for flaws detection in welds.
Therefore, SGS organizes a one-day seminar on these advanced Ultrasonic Testing techniques on November 30, 2010. Aimed at inspection managers, NDT inspectors and operator representatives from the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, as well as construction contractors, the seminar will be held in the SGS office in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The advanced Ultrasonic Testing seminar is scheduled from 9:00-18:00 and will be conducted by Mr. Norbert Trimborn, an NDT specialist and Head of the Competence Center for Special NDT Examinations in the Netherlands.
With the aim of providing comprehensive theoretical and practical information on Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction, the seminar will focus on the advantages of these Non-Destructive Testing methods, such as increased inspection speed, more accurate results, the ability to inspect complex geometries and the absence of radiation. Moreover, seminar attendees will learn more about the application range, opportunities, reliability and limitations of PA and ToFD, as well as training and development opportunities in the NDT sector. In addition, SGS will provide practical demonstrations of the equipment and software used in PA and ToFD.
