The outcome?
"Creative people are extremely valuable to organizations, but their preoccupation with innovative ideas tends to come at the cost of implementation," said Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, vice president of research and innovation at Hogan Assessments and an international authority in personality profiling and psychometric testing. "They can be eccentric and distractible, sometimes change focus quickly and might need support for effective follow-through."
These results underscore that the self-awareness created through Hogan's personality assessments and coaching can help highly creative individuals, their managers, teams and colleagues understand and leverage their personalities in the workplace.
"For example, creative employees should be paired with colleagues who are too conventional to challenge their ideas, but unconventional enough to collaborate with them," said Chamorro-Premuzic. "The worst thing you can do to creative employees is force them to work with other creative employees."
