Lincoln Millstein Named Senior Vice President & Special Assistant to Hearst Corporation CEO

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/29/13 -- Hearst Corporation today announced that effective June 1, Lincoln Millstein will take on the new position of senior vice president of Hearst Corporation and special assistant to the chief executive officer.

June 1 is also the day Steven R. Swartz will assume the role of CEO of Hearst Corporation. Millstein, 63, who joined Hearst in 2005 and has worked extensively with Swartz in previous positions, will function as a senior advisor to Swartz on a wide range of issues.

"Over the past eight years, Lincoln has become both a trusted advisor and digital media leader in the company," Swartz said. "His digital experience, knowledge of management and operations, and strong working relationships throughout Hearst will be great assets to me and all of our senior leadership team."

Last year, Millstein was promoted to executive vice president and deputy group head of Hearst Newspapers, having previously been senior vice president of Hearst Newspapers and director of digital media since he joined the company in 2005.

Millstein is one of the recognized digital pioneers in newspapers. He co-founded Boston.com for the Boston Globe in 1995 and ran it for five years before moving to New York as executive vice president of New York Times Digital. After joining Hearst, he spearheaded numerous industry initiatives including the Newspaper Consortium with Yahoo! in 2006, the creation of the first industry private exchange, quadrantONE, a partnership with Zillow.com and the creation of the industry retail joint venture Wanderful Media, last year.

Millstein has held numerous editorial positions during his career, including business editor at both the Hartford Courant and Boston Globe, and city editor and managing editor, features at the Globe. In addition to his digital responsibilities, Millstein has been involved in the redesign and restructuring of Hearst's print newspapers.

He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper. He was a National Endowment for the Humanities Professional Journalism Fellow at Stanford University from 1980 to 1981.
