Crowd-Sourced IndieGoGo Campaign Launched for Accurate, Italian-Designed Smartphone Breathalyzer

With its preliminary FDA application already approved, another key milestone for 2045Tech is protecting FLOOME's innovative technology. A patent has been filed for a clever "vortex whistle" that measures the quantity of breath going through the device. In addition, sleek, fits-in-your-palm FLOOME incorporates the fuel cell sensors used in professional breathalyzers to detect ethanol molecules.
The ethanol information coupled with the volume of breath are calculated in the smartphone app, determining the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). In fact, FLOOME is the first smartphone app/accessory to give precise BAC levels equivalent to those measured by the bulky, costly professional equipment used in the field. In addition, the device never needs charging.
"We are very confident that the Floome breathalyzer meets a real need in the marketplace," said Fabio Penzo, CEO. "In side-by-side comparisons with professional breathalyzers, FLOOME delivered extremely similar results, with less than 0.1 g/L (0.01 g/dL) BAC differences. The device is now being pre-sold at $65 (£ 45/50EUR ) and will retail for $80 (£ 55/60EUR ) when it comes to market in the fall.
