Brighton College's Surrey Healthcare Event a Success
Brighton College, a British Columbia Based Career College, Recently Held a Successful Community Oriented Healthcare Event at Surrey Central Mall, in Surrey, BC
(firmenpresse) - SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/30/13 -- Brighton College's Resident Care Attendant and Health Care Assistant students recently coordinated a free, community-oriented healthcare event where free blood pressure tests were giving to anyone who was interested. Students were equipped with an information booth, four blood pressure testing stations and the proper equipment to perform the tests safely and accurately.
The event took place at Central City Mall, at the Surrey College Campus at 3450 - 102 Avenue, in Surrey, British Columbia, on Friday, May 17th, 2013 from 10:00am until 3:00pm. It was open to the public, and offered everyone in the mall the opportunity to have their blood pressure taken for free.
According to Brighton College's Employment Coordinator Anita Parti, real world experience is essential in the healthcare industry as it gives students practical, hands-on experience and confidence, which is what employers look for. "Real world experience will teach an individual a number of skills including how to work in a team and how to work with people."
A photographer was present during the event to help document the student's experience. Professional looking photos are showcased on the college's for the public to view.
Participants, students, teachers and staff members were pleased with the level of success from the community event, and were taken back by the amount of community members who participated. While passerby's obtained free blood pressure tests, students obtained hands-on practical skills which benefitted both the public as well as the students.
Brighton College features two 26-week healthcare diploma programs: the Resident Care Attendant Diploma program and the Diploma program. Both programs are now offered at the college's Surrey campus located in Central City Mall.
