The Venetian is largely self-taught and has a tendency towards abstraction. After a period coined by geometric works, his creation took a passionate turn to gestural informal painting. In the second half of the 1950s he explored the frontiers of painting and tried to overcome them by means of ever new experiments. For instance, he abandonded the rectangular shape of pictures in the early 1960s and he made the so-called "Plurimo-Pictures". These are foldable racks of wood and metal, executed in various techniques and with painting on all sides. They are a statement of an expressive freezing, defined by the terms "Space/Action".
