Koshland Pharm Receives PCAB Accreditation Renewal
Pharmacy's Excellence and Commitment to Quality Standards Recognized by National Board
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/04/13 -- Koshland Pharm: Custom Compounding Pharmacy yesterday earned accreditation renewal from the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), a non-profit organization formed by eight of the nation's leading pharmacy associations. Reaccreditation is required every three years and is only awarded to pharmacies that demonstrate continued adherence to stringent quality standards, including passing a thorough on-site inspection. Koshland Pharm first earned PCAB accreditation in July, 2010.
"We value not only the PCAB certification itself, but also the process we go through to become accredited," said Peter Koshland, Pharm.D, founder and head pharmacist of Koshland Pharm. "The accreditation process allows us to test our policies and procedures against the highest standards for compounding."
Compounding is the process of creating prescription medications tailored to a patient's specific needs. Some conditions are best treated with medications that are not always available in standard commercial formulations. For example, sometimes a patient might benefit from an anti-inflammatory medication in a cream rather than capsule form.

"We take numerous steps to ensure quality and accountability, such as only sourcing our raw ingredients for medications from the most reputable wholesalers in the United States, and frequently having our finished products tested by an outside laboratory for potency."
