Vaisala's (HEX: VAIAS) U.S. National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) has been operational for over 30 years, and has the longest archive of lightning data. Statistics from this unique dataset provide a comprehensive view of lightning activity over the United States, which is highly valued for lightning safety, risk management, and severe weather analysis.
In the southeastern U.S., the highest average lightning frequency is in the Florida peninsula. Most of the lightning occurs during June, July, and August, and between late morning and early evening hours.
