Continental Makes?250,000 Available for Flood Helpers

- Immediate assistance to benefit the foundation of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief Charity
- Employees involved as voluntary helpers or initiating appeals for private donations and relief action
- Continental locations not affected by the flooding
Continental, the international automotive supplier, tire manufacturer and industrial partner, has been quick to help out with the rebuilding of areas devastated by the flooding. It has made ?250,000 available for this purpose. "Fortunately, our own locations are not directly affected by the centenary flooding. Others were much less fortunate and are now dependent on outside help," declared Continental CEO Dr. Elmar Degenhart. "Many volunteers are getting involved under the auspices of the Agency for Technical Relief (THW). Their commitment for days and weeks on end is great and impressive. We would like to support this dedication."
In some cases, the company is giving staff affected time off to help out in the areas threatened or ravaged by the flooding. Many employees are lending a hand as helpers in organizations like voluntary fire brigades or the Red Cross. The most diverse employee initiatives at the Continental locations bear witness to a willingness on the part of the workforce to offer their assistance. Our plant in Regensburg in Bavaria, for example, has set up an online platform where employees can help one another by offering or seeking help at a personal level. Above and beyond this, countless members of staff have already made individual donations - as for instance in Hanover - for catastrophe relief measures. Other relief measures on the part of the employees are already underway or planned.
