New at Optimum: Home Insurance With an Environmental Conscience
(firmenpresse) - MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 06/14/13 -- Optimum recently launched across Canada, a residential policy endorsement called GREEN-HOME extension, a bundled package designed to reduce the home's carbon footprint.
The GREEN-HOME package promotes the use of environmentally friendly materials as an alternative choice in repair or replacement materials after an insured loss. GREEN-HOME also includes a Carbon Offset program, an easy way to offset greenhouse gas emissions associated with a residence by purchasing carbon offsets, based on a rate per square foot. The program is offered in partnership with Offsetters, a leading Canadian carbon management solutions provider. Originally launched in B.C., this product was recognized in 2012 by Best's Review as one of 15 most important innovations in insurance in North America.
Another innovation at Optimum is that now each home insurance policy automatically includes a 0.1 tonne carbon offset to reduce the home's greenhouse gas emissions. For an average household, this amount is equivalent to completely offsetting the CO2 emissions for a period of up to 36 days, depending on the area.
