Summer Sounds and Activities Can Cause Hearing Loss

Loud noises start to reach potentially harmful levels at around 85 decibels (dB). Sounds heard during summer activities like gunshots, live music, racecars, and lawn mowers can climb above this decibel level and damage hearing. In addition, swimming, surfing, kayaking, and other water sports can also cause infections known as surfer's ear and swimmer's ear. The purpose of the photo contest is to celebrate those who live loudly by providing the products and knowledge they need to protect against these unfamiliar hazards.
