Every year, in addition to friends and family, hundreds of Canadians who champion Parkinson SuperWalk are also joined by their furry friends. After a successful inaugural year, Parkinson Society Canada is pleased to announce that the 2013 Pets for Parkinson's contest is now underway!

"We always look forward to seeing participants and their canine companions at Parkinson SuperWalk locations across the country. Following the success of last year's Pets for Parkinson's contest, we are excited to bring this back and get more pets and their families involved in the cause," says Joyce Gordon, Parkinson Society Canada President and CEO.

Pets for Parkinson's challenges Canadians to show support for Parkinson SuperWalk by submitting photos of their pets, demonstrating their enthusiasm for the cause to help raise awareness of Parkinson's disease. Five winners will be randomly selected each week from now through September 2nd and will win a Parkinson SuperWalk bandana for their pet. Friends and family will also have the chance to participate and vote online for their favourite Parkinson's Pet who will be awarded the grand prize of a $100.00 gift card to PetSmart.

"Pets for Parkinson's is a great way to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease and to show enthusiasm for the cause. It is exciting to see so many pets in support of the Parkinson SuperWalk across the country." says Jodie Matthews, 2012 Pets for Parkinson's grand prize winner. My dog, Button, has been a constant source of support for me and it was a lot of fun to be able to get her involved in last year's walk."
