New Visitor Info Centre Opens on Jasper Avenue

(firmenpresse) - EDMONTON, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/21/13 -- 's welcome centre has moved eastward. Opened officially today, the new location at 9797 Jasper Avenue is more visible and easier to access.

"Many visitors still enjoy a one-on-one, face-to-face connection with a visitor counselor and it has proven to extend their activity and stay," says Maggie Davison, vice-president of tourism at . "The new location makes it easier for visitors and convention goers alike to discover what our city has to offer. We look forward to tripling our walk-in traffic and adding to Jasper Avenue's colour and dynamism."

Gone is the traditional counter separating staff and visitors, allowing for more free-flowing and in-depth counseling. Upon entering the welcome centre, visitors are greeted by ceiling-to-floor vistas of North America's largest urban parkland, the river valley. Metered parking spots are available in front of the building.

Its former location at the World Trade Centre drew 3,000 visitors in 2012. Edmonton Tourism also welcomes at its award-winning facility at Gateway Park and a summer booth at the Edmonton International Airport.

The facility's opening was followed by a midday neighbourhood block party on Jasper Avenue marking the 's 30th anniversary and the growing downtown vibrancy along Jasper Avenue east. The community event included roving entertainers, food trucks, new public art displays, and tours of the centre and the new CKUA Radio building.
