Vinus & Marc Opens in Yorkville
New Bar/Lounge Features Global Artisanal Wines, In-House Cocktails, and Seasonal Small Plates Bringing Great Gatsby Charm to Upper East Side
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 06/24/13 -- Frank Locker Associates is pleased to announce the opening of Vinus & Marc in the Yorkville area of NYC. Bringing old-world charm to the UES, Vinus & Marc is inspired by the prohibition Great Gatsby era with reinvented cocktails from the 1920s and 30s, house-prepared cocktails to celebrate the era, a curated wine list by expert Locker, and sourced local artisanal farm produce and seasonal ingredients. The 55-seat lounge is designed with a 1930s bar, and antique lighting in a room of red and black hues for an intimate setting.
Up-and-coming chef, J. Luis Dominguez, presents innovative selections on small plates paired with the seasons. This season's menu offers a live Louisiana Crawfish Boil and Crawfish Roll. Also featured are Dominguez's signature tuna tartare, a selection of bi-coastal Oysters, vegetable plates, and a selection of cheeses and charcuterie. J. Luis' career began at 17 in NYC, working for Cedrid Tovar and alongside Mario Batali, as well as with Locker at Duane Park Café before joining Vinus & Marc.
The cocktail menu was created by Aziza Omar, formerly from Odeon in Tribeca. Her menu is inspired by the prohibition era, highlighting classics such as the Scofflaw originally created at Harry's Bar in Paris. Aziza's house cocktails include the already-popular "Baby Vamp" made with strawberry, tequila, smoky mescal and Hellfire bitters and the "Rara Avis" made with vodka, lemon, ginger and black pepper.
Frank Locker, owner and entrepreneur, states, "I grew up on the UES in Yorkville since I moved here from England in 1983 and have watched the neighborhood change. Vinus & Marc is meant to celebrate the neighborhood -- and provide a welcoming place to enjoy drinks and delicious seasonal food while having great conversation. We're excited to serve the people who live and work here -- and also to introduce this peaceful plot of Manhattan to others who may never have heard of Yorkville or thought to venture uptown."
