Nationale Suisse and Swiss Mobiliar are strengthening their collaboration and
entering into a cooperation agreement for the provision of art insurance for the
Swiss market. This will enable both insurers to strengthen their presence in
this specialised niche. At the same time the two Swiss companies can provide the
local market with greater insurance capacity and offer tailored solutions for
local clients.
Having already worked together in the art insurance sector in the past,
Nationale Suisse and Swiss Mobiliar are now extending their joint approach to
the art market in Switzerland through a cooperation agreement that is active
retrospectively from 1 January 2013. In art insurance, the Art specialty line of
Nationale Suisse is well known internationally through its specific products and
expertise. In future, Swiss Mobiliar can make increased use of this and so
expand its range of services, while Swiss Mobiliar's distribution network
provides Nationale Suisse with an additional sales channel. Together, these two
Swiss companies are also able to provide the domestic market with greater
insurance capacity, so enabling even major players in the art market in
Switzerland to benefit from locally tailored, attractive solutions.
Providing cover from major collections to individual works of art of private
clients
The market approach of this non-exclusive cooperation will be on three levels:
in the market for major collections and exhibitions the capacity of both
companies is being pooled within the framework of co-insurance, headed up by
Nationale Suisse. In this way major risks can be covered jointly. In the market
for collections of high net worth individuals and companies, such as galleries
for example, Swiss Mobiliar's sales team will provide its clients with Nationale
Suisse art insurance products and services. Finally, Swiss Mobiliar will
continue to offer its private clients in the retail business cover for works of
art such as paintings and sculptures through the insurance provided for
valuables by the MobiCasa product. The art specialists at Nationale Suisse will
support Swiss Mobiliar in this with their expertise.
Exploiting joint potential
