Heijmans to realise technical installations of Schiphol's E and F pier constructions

Together in a construction team with Ballast Nedam, Heijmans is to carry out one
of the sub-projects for Schiphol's overall transition to central security. The
reason for Schiphol to do this is to improve passenger comfort. The commission
includes the design and realisation of an overlay on the E and F piers and the
extension of the terminal in the area between the E and F piers for the purpose
of a central security filter. Heijmans' part in the construction team is to
realise both the electrical engineering and mechanical systems. The contract sum
amounts to approximately ? 20 million.
Schiphol Nederland BV selected Heijmans Utiliteit as construction team partner
due to its knowledge of and focus on the logistical and operational processes.
It is the aim to realise a design that matches Schiphol's primary process.
The work area comprises 34,700m2. The construction team starts working out the
plans in June and construction is expected to start in September. The first
completion will take place a year later.
