The Wimbledon Championship towels are iconic to the event and seen as a must have for any avid tennis fan visiting SW19. Used by the players themselves throughout the tournament, the towels have become the bestselling product online, with the men's towel in particular - coloured in traditional Wimbledon green and purple colours- proving the most popular purchase.
Last year over 20,000 towels, which are made by official Wimbledon supplier Christy Towels, were sold during the fortnight of tennis action. Not only did this figure include the aforementioned official Wimbledon towel, available in one size only, but also beach towels, guest towels and face towels.
The towels are adored by the players. Traditionally they had to give their sweat drenched towels back to Wimbledon staff after each game, but many tried to keep hold of them, presumably as souvenirs - or perhaps because they're such good towels. This has now changed; the All England club have admitted defeat, allowing players to now retain their towels.
