HÖHN-Group sales rise in 2010

The HÖHN-Group of Ulm/Biberach looks back on a successful trading year. With a ten percent increase in turnover, the group has equalled and then outstripped the 2008 level.

(firmenpresse) - This manufacturer of displays, packaging and printed products has recorded growth in every division, with particularly pleasing progress in the packaging sector. In view of this, HÖHN is modernising its equipment base in April when two more powerful, state-of-the-art folding carton gluers will be brought on-stream. This capital investment of two million Euros is intended to give a further boost to the packaging division.

Back in December 2009 the company added digital printing to its service portfolio. Demand for digitally-produced printed products remained high, so a second digital printing machine was brought into service in late 2010. The company is thus adapting to changing customer requirements; there is increasing demand for shorter, low-cost print runs with fast turn-round times. At its Biberach/Riß site the company plans to inject 300,000 Euros into the printed products division in 2011. Once again, HÖHN will remain at the cutting edge with a new folder, a modern trimming system and innovative hardware and software.

Growth was also recorded by the display production division. The company offers ancillary logistics services such as worldwide shipping in addition to producing displays for big-name branded goods. The extensive service portfolio and high quality supplied by HÖHN Displays+Verpackungen GmbH are bringing it to the attention of global manufacturers of foodstuffs, cosmetics and confectionery. Against this background HÖHN has successfully built up its sales in neighbouring countries. Managing Director Sebastian Haug views the future with great optimism. “We want to grow further in all areas. And we want this growth to be sustainable, not sudden. We aim to keep our equipment base at the forefront of technology and to continue offering our customers high-quality products. This will enable us to remain competitive. And we will build upon this by ploughing our profits back into the company”. At the end of the year, Lothar Ruhnke retired from actively running the company after many years’ service as its Managing Director. Ruhnke and Haug will still be responsible for the joint management of the holding company (HÖHN GmbH&Co.KG).

The HÖHN-Group is located in Ulm and Biberach/Riß and employs 280 people. For years the company, which operates independently, has provided its own in-house training. The successful year has allowed it to add two more young people to the current intake of five trainees. The company has been run by the same family for more than a century, but now has its sights trained on the future. Knowledge and skills are developed within the company. These will be combined with the latest technology to form the basis for targeted growth. It is this growth that will allow the company to remain independent.
