A Casey Feldman Foundation Day of Service at Magee Rehabilitation
(firmenpresse) - PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/16/13 -- Volunteers of all ages and walks of life will gather at Magee Rehabilitation in Philadelphia on Wednesday to provide hands-on services to commemorate the life of an aspiring young woman tragically killed by a distracted driver.
Volunteers will help clean and landscape the rehab center by planting trees, gardening, providing dining services and general cleanup. Joey the service dog will demonstrate his therapy skill with patients whose disabilities range from amputations to spinal cord injuries. The combined effort is all to honor the life of Casey Feldman, daughter of Anapol Schwartz partner Joel Feldman, who loved dogs and helping others.
"On the fourth anniversary of her death, it is so fitting that we remember her through this gift to Magee, a gift that will help those facing life-altering changes adapt to their challenges," Feldman said. "The great work done by the dedicated professionals at Magee Rehabilitation is a perfect way to remember Casey and her compassion."
When Casey was killed in 2009, Feldman established the Casey Feldman Foundation to provide financial support to individuals, groups and institutions whose interests and goals align with those of Casey. The Facility Dog Program and Magee's first therapy dog were officially introduced during last year's Day of Service. This annual event is the fourth "Angelversary" of Casey's passing.
