The Stroll'n Bike, developed by Wike (), is the world's first bicycle that converts instantly into a stroller or shopping cart. This unique 18-speed bike provides urban dwellers with a more efficient method of transportation. Parents can easily take their children to the grocery store, medical appointments and to see their friends without having to find parking or make stroller transfers from a car seat.
"We developed the Stroll'n Bike so parents and commuters can integrate biking and walking into their lifestyle and to help eliminate short car trips," said Wike owner Bob Bell. The Stroll'n Bike's user friendly design means it can be brought on public transit and go inside any building. "Our customers live in smaller spaces and are looking for multipurpose products that combine functionality and practicality. They want time saving bikes that enable them to ride door-to-door and carry their kids and groceries without having to lock up, or backtrack to retrieve their bikes."
How it Works
Wike's patent pending mechanisms feature: a linkage that raises the rear wheel of the bicycle while lowering a pair of stabilizing stroller wheels, an independent handlebar/cargo compartment system that disengages from the front wheel of the bicycle and slides to the rear of the stroller for the pushing position, and an automatic front wheel locking mechanism that engages when the bicycle frame is compressed.
The child carrying system integrates with the "Orbit Baby G2" infant car seat. At 29 pounds, the bicycle features an 18-speed drivetrain, 20" high-end wheels and high pressure tires that deliver a smooth and fast ride.
