(firmenpresse) - PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 07/17/13 -- Campers, start your engines! As if summer camp activities such as fishing, target shooting and archery weren't exciting enough, Canadian Tire has stepped up to help the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) get kids just as revved up about ATV'ing.

"Leave it to the OFAH and Canadian Tire to give young people the time of their lives at a highly acclaimed summer camp that puts a strong emphasis on safety, and fuels the passion for new outdoor experiences," said Angelo Lombardo, Executive Director of the 84,000-member OFAH.

Thanks to Canadian Tire's support, OFAH Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp near Huntsville now delivers a one-of-a-kind ATV program. Hundreds of campers will participate in a classroom ATV safety presentation with training support provided by the Ontario Federation of All Terrain Vehicles (OFATV). A practical trail riding experience across acres of private OFAH camp property is followed by one-on-one ATV instruction on a technical riding course in an open field. The campers will individually operate one of eight E-ton Viper 90 Youth ATV's that are equipped with throttle governors to keep the machines at low speeds for a safe learning experience. All riders are properly fitted with Canadian Tire supplied youth helmets and safety goggles.

"Canadian Tire is pleased to partner with the OFAH in delivering a program that will give future ATV riders the framework for safe, responsible outdoor participation. ATV'ing is a great family-based activity, and we are proud to provide OFAH campers with the chance to drive Canadian Tire's Viper which is hailed as the best learner ATV on the market," said Steve Kokic, AVP, Automotive, Canadian Tire.

OFAH Get Outdoors Summer Leadership Camp was launched in 2002 in response to the growing youth interest in conservation and outdoor pursuits such as hunting and fishing, canoeing and kayaking, fly tying and target shooting, as well as night hikes and wolf howls. This award winning youth conservation program quickly expanded from 60 to 180 campers per year. This year, 180 spots were filled in 19 minutes when registration opened in March.
