Nearly 100-Year-Old Lower East Side Institution, MOSCOT, Brings Some New York City Soul to Seoul, South Korea

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 07/18/13 -- First they crossed the East River with the opening of their Court Street Shop in Brooklyn, USA. Next they crossed Delancey Street to move their historic 80-year-old Shop from 118 to 108 Orchard. Now the fourth generation family owned and operated MOSCOT is crossing the Pacific...Ocean that is. Announcing MOSCOT Seoul -- the Company's fourth shop, and its first and only location outside New York City. Whoop!

In cooperation with CED International, its Korean distribution partner for the past five years, MOSCOT Seoul has opened its doors at A32 1F Fineapple Mall, 19-9 in Jamsil-Dong, in the Songpa-gu district of Seoul, South Korea, an area comprised of fashionable fans, not unlike MOSCOT's own backyard...downtown New York City.

"My son Zack came on board this spring, making MOSCOT a fifth generation Company with deep, deep roots in New York City. So, you can imagine what a huge decision it was for us to open a shop outside of the City, let alone one half way around the world," said Harvey Moscot, Co-President of MOSCOT. "This is an incredibly exciting milestone for us...who could have ever imagined when my Great Grandpa Hyman was selling glasses from a pushcart on Orchard Street back in 1899 that one day MOSCOT would have its name on a shop in Seoul, South Korea. We're incredibly honored and humbled to have come so far, and we can't imagine a better partner to have helped make this happen."

"Ted Yoo, President of CED, truly embodies the spirit of MOSCOT," added Wendy Simmons, Co-President of MOSCOT. "He understands what makes MOSCOT, MOSCOT -- our entire gestalt, down to the smallest detail. He has been a tireless supporter of ours for nearly a decade, conveying the brand experience to fans in South Korea with integrity and humor. Without his outstanding efforts, MOSCOT Seoul would not be possible."

"MOSCOT is a true family business...five generations of Moscots behind the counter for nearly 100 years. It is an honor to be welcomed as family, and trusted as a partner as we embark together on this very exciting journey," said Ted Yoo, President of CED International. "We have been distributing MOSCOT to shops in South Korea for five years and have built a strong and loyal following of fans who are incredibly excited to now have the MOSCOT New York City experience here at home."

Fans who visit the MOSCOT Seoul will certainly recognize familiar touches from the Company's three New York City shops. The 420 square foot shop incorporates the same quirky historical tchotchkes and treasures, warm cherry wood eyewear showcases and the Company's ubiquitous MOSCOT yellow. But while paying homage to the Big Apple, MOSCOT Seoul also pays respect to its hometown, seamlessly blending Korean design and cultural elements into the mix.

MOSCOT Seoul, now open, will celebrate its grand opening in late October 2013 (date to be announced), with Co-Presidents Harvey Moscot and Wendy Simmons, and fifth generation, Zachary Moscot on hand to celebrate.

The Shop, managed by Intae (Ryan) Kim is located at A32 1F Fineapple Mall, 19-9 Jamsil-Dong, Songpa-Gu, Seoul 138-220, and is daily from 10:30AM to 9PM.
