(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA and LONDON -- (Marketwired) -- 07/22/13 -- , the company that solves mobile messaging globally, launched its direct-to-carrier SMS API in November 2011 with a simple landing page. Just a year and eight months later, the company now employs 27 people on five continents, provides service to some of the biggest global mobile messaging and consumer applications in the world including Line, Viber, ICQ, Kakao, and Airbnb, and is poised to rapidly expand its market share in the $25 billion mobile app market.

Nexmo connects web applications directly to billions of phones, allowing an app's users to communicate instantly with people anywhere in the world. Mobile messaging services like Line and Viber use Nexmo for invitations and account verification, and Airbnb uses Nexmo to allow hosts and users to connect safely and instantly via SMS, no matter what country they reside.

"For us, the focus was always on network efficiencies," says Nexmo CEO Tony Jamous. "It's not enough to simply plug into telecom networks with an API. There is extreme volatility in global telecom and we understood this from day one. That is why Nexmo plugs web and mobile apps as directly as possible to carriers worldwide and leverages protocols like signaling. It's not the newest technology -- it just works. When our customers see their SMS and Voice message deliverability improve 200 percent overnight, they get it."

Nexmo has focused fanatically on increasing the variety and reliability of its global reach. The company currently touts over 90 direct-to-carrier links around the word, with its most recent addition of Airtel Africa. In less than two years, Nexmo grew from sending zero to two billion application-to-person SMS messages, year-to-date. This volume is growing 20 percent every month, with the addition of messaging heavy Over The Top apps.

Nexmo plans to expand its 15 percent month-to-month revenue growth and profitability with recently added cash flow and expertise from investors NHN Investments in Asia and Intel Capital in Silicon Valley. The company also plans to invest heavily in new products, support, marketing, as well as staff in its San Francisco, Hong Kong, and London offices.

"Our direct-to-carrier relationships allow us to have unique visibility and control into the deliverability path of each message," says Eric Nadalin, Nexmo CTO. "This allows us to provide better insight and results to application providers who rely on mission critical messaging to communicate to their users. Our technology and support has allowed us to grow organically thus far, but we plan to invest further to capitalize on the growing mobile application market."

Since 2011, Nexmo () has delivered reliable messaging and voice capabilities to application developers and enterprises worldwide. By forging solid relationships with global carriers and leveraging technology that reaches deep into the telecom infrastructure, Nexmo's SMS and Voice APIs offer solid deliverability and transparency to its users. Messaging heavy hitters such as Line, ICQ and Airbnb send millions of messages a month using Nexmo's SMS API, and the company is rapid expanding its capabilities and customer base in the Voice space as well. Nexmo is headquartered in San Francisco and investments from NHN in South Korea and Intel Capital in Silicon Valley.
