City of Prince George Welcomes His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge
(firmenpresse) - PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/25/13 -- On behalf of the residents of the City of Prince George, Mayor Shari Green extends her congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the arrival of their baby boy, His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.
Prince George, located on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T'enneh, has a population of 76,286 and is situated in the heart of British Columbia, 800 km north of Vancouver. The city's economy has a strong natural resource base and is well-diversified across a variety of sectors, supplying goods and services throughout Northern BC, Canada and the globe. The excitement surrounding the birth of the royal baby has provided the City with the opportunity to invite the Duke, Duchess and Prince George of Cambridge to visit in 2015. This is a significant year as the City will celebrate its 100th birthday, host the Canada Winter Games and join with the University of Northern BC to mark the 25th anniversary of the institution, which was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth.
"A new life represents opportunity, and as one of the fastest growing regions in the country, Prince George is at the centre of that opportunity," said Mayor Shari Green. The City of Prince George will proclaim July 22 each year as Prince George of Cambridge day in the City of Prince George in honour of our future King's birthday. Local events, recognizing both the Royals' and the City's history of volunteering and giving, are also planned.
