Digital Magazines Gaining Traction
Hearst Publishing Hits 1 Million Subscribers
(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/30/13 -- The OTC Journal, the longest running electronic newsletter focused on the small cap and microcap sectors, notes the recent surge in digital magazine subscribers should be a major positive for LifeApps (OTCQB: LFAP) and it's highly acclaimed digital magazine YouWorkout.
In November of 2011 Hearst Publishing President David Carey forecast there would be 1 million paying subscribers of digital versions of its magazines by the end of 2012.
The Hearst titles include Car and Driver, Cosmopolitan, Food Network, Good Housekeeping, Harper's Bazaar, O Magazine, Red Book, Town and Country, Woman's Day, and many others.
Carey's forecast turned out to be a bit optimistic, but Hearst eclipsed the 1 million subscriber mark in May, and has been adding about 10% more monthly according to Hearst executive VP John Loughlin.
Cosmopolitan has their highest digital circulation with about 180,000. O Magazine comes in second at about 110,000.
Carey believes digital subscription for Hearst Publications will hit 3 million by 2016, and make up 10% of their total business.
National Geographic recently announced its number of e-subscribers had grown to nearly 750,000.
Larry Isen, editor of the OTC Journal, stated, "It seems like it's just a matter of time before LifeApps (LFAP) starts to get some recognition and critical acclaim for YouWorkout. The acceptance and growth of digital magazines is a clear plus for LifeApps shareholders as this new market develops."
