SGS to Provide Quality Control Services of Wind Towers for Goldwind in China
SGS Industrial Services in China was assigned a contract to provide comprehensive Quality Control Services of wind towers for a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, Goldwind. A team of SGS’s experts supervises the wind tower production process and provides onsite inspection, testing, auditing, monitoring and Quality Control witness services.
Comprehensive Quality Control Services of Wind Towers for Goldwind in China(firmenpresse) - As even a minor failure can cause unacceptable downtime and substantial loss of money, it is of utmost importance to ensure the reliability of wind farm structures during the production process. Most of all, wind towers are highly critical wind farm components, since they are responsible for the safe operation of wind turbines as the main load-bearing structures.
In order to ensure top quality during the manufacturing process of their wind towers, the Goldwind Science and Technology Company, one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers in China, looked for a reliable third-party inspection, verification and testing company. On January 4, 2011, SGS China was awarded a contract to conduct comprehensive Quality Control Services during the production process of wind towers due to its extensive experience and competence in projects of that kind.
SGS’s team of experts is providing complex onsite inspection, auditing, monitoring and Quality Control witness services during the production process in order to guarantee that the wind towers will fulfill the applicable regulatory and client-specific requirements. With Quality Control SGS verifies materials, parts and final products through checks and sample testing. The inspection of wind towers is carried out in accordance with quality assurance procedures and a checklist relating to specific types of equipment, operational factors and the vendor’s own quality control system. In addition, SGS reviews the design, specifications, drawings and specified standards, to assure the applicable regulatory requirements.
In addition, SGS tests the materials used for the production of wind towers with Non-Destructive Testing methods. SGS’s team of experts checks the material quality with respect to the material choice, composition, surface integrity and internal condition, in order to ensure the best quality and prevent failures during the wind farm’s operational phase.
Based on its outstanding experience in similar projects, SGS also examines various certificates, controls the assembling of the components and conducts final inspection and acceptance tests. With SGS’s help, the production process of wind towers is carried out on time, in accordance with national and international regulations and standards, to the full satisfaction of the client.
