OCC Announces Cleared Contract Volume Increased 6% in July as Securities Lending Activity Rose 53%
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 08/01/13 -- OCC announced today that total cleared contract volume in July reached 328,899,421 contracts, representing a 6 percent increase from the July 2012 volume of 309,599,417 contracts. OCC's year-to-date total contract volume is up 3 percent with 2,471,194,347 contracts in 2013.
Exchange-listed options volume reached 324,651,203 contracts in July, a 6 percent increase from July 2012. Equity options volume rose 4 percent from the previous July with 295,059,480 contracts. Index options volume rose 22 percent from the previous July with 29,591,723 contracts. Year-to-date total options trading volume is up 2 percent with 2,436,987,381 contracts in 2013.
Futures cleared by OCC reached 4,248,218 contracts in July, up 53 percent from July 2012. Equity futures volume came in at 582,681 contracts last month, a 58 percent increase from July 2012. Index and other futures volume came in at 3,665,537 contracts last month, a 52 percent increase from July 2012. OCC's year-to-date cleared futures volume is up 74 percent with 34,206,966 contracts in 2013.
OCC's securities lending CCP activities saw a 53 percent increase in new loans from July 2012 with 123,108 transactions last month. Year-to-date stock loan activity is up 31 percent from 2012 with 761,628 new loan transactions in 2013. The average daily loan value at OCC in July was $56,104,353,820.
